Hi Jane,

I checked my BASSETT database and unfortunately find no one named Edward or Edmund Bassett born 1730-1750 who married anyone named Kate or Catherine. I have not carried my Bassett research over to Monmouthshire.
I did find mention of an Edward Bassett who died in St Arvans ca 1796 in a will from a distant cousin of mine (Barrie Diamond in Cardiff). The key info is:
1796 She entered a secured agreement with James Wales. It mentions Edward Bassett, deceased and that she is involved in preparing an inventory of Edward Bassett’s estate for the court at Llandaff by June 1796.

Lately, I have idled my Glamorgan Bassett research since DNA sample from one of my Bassett cousins does not match DNA from either of two Glamorgan Bassett lines but instead that of a Bassett from just east of Liverpool.
David
