My ancestor, John Bassett (wife Margery), is the son of your first William Bassett, but not by Elizabeth, either Cecilia or Margaret. It is unclear in my records exactly how John gets to the colonies. This issue you bring up is interesting, in that John's relationship to the Plymouth William could be that of Brother - Brother, rather than father son as I have always believed. Any clarifications that come your way, please pass them along.
