I was very interested to read your description of your family line. I am descended from a long line of Bassetts in Barnwell County SC. We have been looking for the connection back to the original immigrants for a long time and are working in conjunction with Jefferey and Sue Folawn. I hope that perhaps you can help us find the connection between your Thomas IV in Augusta and our William who died in Barnwell in 1810. We are thinking our William's father was the Francis Bassett in the Revolutionary War. Wm. showed in his inventory after his death a Rev. War uniform and hardware which was bought by a John Bassett which we think was his brother. But we have been puzzled as to how the Thomas in Augusta connected to the SC Bassetts. I feel sure that they do somehow.

Here is what we know for certain:
1. Wm. Bassett came from somewhere up north to settle in SC and it is said he bought an island off the coast.
2. He died in 1810 married to Michal Moye and left 3 sons, Thomas Jr, Francis, and Stephen. He also identified a brother Eli and his son William in his will.
3. We have a fair completion of the lineage of Stephen and Thomas Jr. to the present day.

Look forward to hearing from you and making the connection :>)
