According to the 1880 census, Louis Bassett age 28 b. Canada; Matilda (Austin) Bassett age 26 b. Canada; Melinda age 6 b. NH; Louis age 4 b. NH; and Fred age 2 b. NH.

However, according to my gr-grandmother's Melinda (Bassett) LaPorte's obit, she listed 4 different/other brothers: Albert, George, Edward and Joseph all of Penacook, NH. It could be that Louis and Fred above, were deceased since she died in her 83rd year.
