Bassett/Goodspeed Marriage

Hi, the journal of Jacob hamblin says " Grandfather hamblin maried Mary Bassett. This Bassett maried a goodspeed descendent of the goodspeeds that came over in the ship Mayflower" Does anyone know how they would tie in? We have a pedegree for Mary Bassett, but someone said it is wrong becuase it does not tie in with the Goodspeed family.
Any insight would be helpful. thank You
