The William BAssett born in 1624 in Dorking is an entiely different Bassett Family than the family in Sandwich,MA. I am descended from both and they are not the same. The birth place and exact birthdate of the William Bassett married to Elizabeth and who came on the ship Fortune in 1621 have never been proven to my knowledge. This William's son married Mary Rainsford and only Mary Rainsford. He died in 1670 and Mary remarried a Mr. Percival. The William Bassett born in 1624 came to Lynn,MA with his mother Ann and his stepfather Hugh Burt as a child. His father having died in England. You appear to have two families confused. Bonnie
