William Bassetts from Plymouth 1621

I would like a little help from someone on a matter that is greatly confusing to me!
I have recently discovered that many Bassett researchers concur that the William Bassett born in England in 1572/5 is also the same William who came to Plymouth in 1621 on the Fortune. He was married four(?) times to Cecilia, Margaret, Elizabeth and Mary and had no children except with Elizabeth who died in 1634?
I have also found sources that say that this William (from above) was the FATHER of William Bassett born 1595-1600 and that he was the one who came to Plymouth and only married Elizabeth (1) and then Mary Lapham (2). If so, who is the mother of William, Cecilia or Margaret?

Which is the most likely? What is the general opinion of those researching this line? I would greatly appreciate any responses!!
