Don, We have talked before. I am descended from this Mary and her second husband John Scott. They were married 1663 in New Kent County Virginia. She was the sister of a William Bassett and the mother of Col. John Scott who married Judith.
I have from the following source OLD KENTCOUNTY VOL. 1 BY HARRIS the following info.
The Bassetts of Eltham, Blisland Parish, New Kent County from Southampton England. p.42-43
William son of William lived on Pamunkey River Feb. 1664. he was an officer in Rutherford's Regiment at the Battle of Dunkirk. He was given the task of securing the defenses for the colony for which he received 10,000 pounds of tobacco. in his will is mentioned his sister Mary Scott.
