I have an unconfirmed report that my ancestor Hiram Bassett HEWITT (born 1845 NY) was named after his maternal grandfather Hiram BASSETT (born 1807 CT). I have Hiram Bassett HEWITT's mother as Lodema (surname unknown), born 29 April 1829 NY, married before 1845 to Reuben HEWITT, married after 1850 to John PUDNEY, died 3 Aug. 1882, Chenango Co., NY. The dates of birth and death are from a photograph of her headstone, which is a little hard to read, so I might not have them quite right. Does anyone know if Hiram BASSETT had a daughter named Lodema?
