It appears that the "first" American Bashaw's were two brothers Giles and Andrew who came from France, landed in Virginia in the early 1600's, settled in Maryland. Two Bashaw brothers (the same two?) were said to have crossed the Potomac River to Northumberland County, Virginia in the 1640's. There is a good bit of info at the following links. Also some information on Peter Bashaw our Revolutionary soldier (private) from Fauqier County, VA who ended his years in Tennessee. http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/IT/CherokeeNation?read=166 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/surhelp-bin/sursrch.pl http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Acadian-Cajun?read=338 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/France/Midi-Pyrénées?read=11 http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gsfn=&gsln=bashaw&gspl=1%2CAny+Locality&gsdr=0&gl=allgs&prox=0 http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gst=8&GSFN=&GSLN=BASHAW&GSPL=1%2CANY+LOCALITY&GSDR=0&GL=ALLGS&PROX=0 http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=virginia&DatabaseId=2063&db=virginia&GSFN=&GSLN=BASHAW&GSPL=1%2CANY+LOCALITY&GSDR=0&PROX=0&GS=BASHAW http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=drev&DatabaseId=3174&db=drev&GSFN=&GSLN=BASHAW&GSPL=1%2CANY+LOCALITY&GSDR=0&PROX=0&GS=BASHAW http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=tenness1&DatabaseId=3281&db=tenness1&GSFN=&GSLN=BASHAW&GSPL=1%2CANY+LOCALITY&GSDR=0&PROX=0&GS=BASHAW
