Mary E, after studying your lead, I think that Jane Bashaw was very probably the sister of Mary (Thorley) Keene. Their connections are overlapping throughout their lives, their wills, and their children's lives. Please share any research you can about the origin of Giles Bashaw and his brother Andrew Bashaw. If I can look at these beginnings, I can explore the families they lived nearby and compare that with the Keene, Gosnold, Wingfield, deVere connections in Suffolk, England. I can also look forward from the Northumberland, VA area into Westmoreland and Stafford county in the 1700s, where I can see William Basha's family was living at the time of his death. According to a land deed #343 Virginia general land grants Northern Neck, Thomas Robbinson listed William Bashor transported to Westmoreland in Nov 1683 with a Jane Bashor. Another deed on the same date #345 had Elizabeth Keene transported by Thomas Gordon (I'm guessing this was William Keene's widow, Elizabeth Rogers Keene) On the same date pg #342 was Alex Thorly and Jo'n Garnor, but this one is very hard to read. These documents pg #342, 343, 344, 345 have many family names that are connected to the descendants of Thomas and Mary Keene's family of Northumberland, who ended up in Westmoreland.
According to my research I see Jane having 4 children with Giles Bashaw: Jane, Margaret, Andrew and William (I don't know order of birth). All mentioned as transported by Hugh Lee along with Edwd and Joan Perry in April 1654 (belatedly filed, no doubt as we know Jane Basha Perry was dead at this time) . I have Jane and Edwd having one daughter Elizabeth Perry. This last child was mentioned in Mary Keene Raynor Broughton's will in 1662. We also know that one of my Mary's grandchildren (Garner) married one of your Jane's grandchildren (Joyce). Another curious piece of information is that Mary Keene Raynor Broughton files two land deeds, one for land owed as a widow of Raynor, and one owed as a widow of Broughton in 1662, record 552, pg 542, 543. This record is next to a land deed of Benoss Brashoire to Charles Drury, I have seen where researchers suggest that Basha is also Brashoire.

Please let me know if you have found connections too, or if you know where Giles and Andrew Basha were born and raised. I hope we can share information and thanks so much. Cynthia Couch Rodriguez
