No, Royce Bashaw descends from the very early Bashaw family in Virginia. Our old Giles Basha(w) came to America in 1630/31 as one of William Claiborne's Band on Kent Island, Maryland. Google Kent Island, Maryland and you will pull up a lot of info about the Island. In early Maryland our Giles' family name was spelled Basha. When Giles Basha's widow and family fled to what is now Northumberland County, Virginia in 1645/6 the name was spelled Bashaw. As it has been spelled ever since. We are the early American Bashaws from England. Your Bashaws are from Canada, and they originated in France. All older, original Bashaw researchers learned from the first that there are two unrelated Bashaws families. Most of our Bashaws kept to the South, your's to the North. Some of both moved to California, and that's when it gets hard to separate them. I complied a Bashaw Book about 15 years ago, and it is out of print. I have my copy and I will be glad to look for anyone who may be curious about their Southern Bashaw roots. Glen Bashaw and his sister, Sue, both have a copy of my Bashaw Book. I had a lot of help gathering the info for this book. I am now working on our Bashaw related Daniel and Harris' families. Have gathered a lot of data for these families, but I do not plan on compiling another book. I'm willing to share. Regards, ~MaryE~ Notify Administrator about this message?
