Iam interested in finding my original lineage which is either BASHOW or maybe BASHOW.
My present line is James Luther Harper & Arvilla Schwartz.
These are my great-grand parents from Illinois.
They adopted RAYMOND BASHOW in Champaign County,Illinois
in July 1894 and he was 10 months old. His name was changed to William John Harper and sometimes he used it as John William Harper born July 1893.
We have never been able to open the Adoption records in Champaign County,Ill but somehow a record of "Declaring the child adopted" survived thru the family and this is where I found his name as Raymond BASHOW. However the document does not give his parents names, and this is what I seek.
It is such a terrible feeling not knowing who your family really was and where they come from.
I notice lots of Bashows (Bashaw) are from Canada. Perhaps this line may be from there.
Is BASHOW & BASHAW the same ?? Where did the name come from ??
I need help here and if anyone has any information no matter how small it may be. Please let me know !!!!
Could use some advice on Champaign County adoption records to help me.
