our Bashaw family was BERGERON in Canada. when they came over after the war of 1812, for reasons not known to us, became Bashaw. We had an e-mail from a gentleman in La who said when the name Bergeron is said in the French dialect, it comes out sounding like Bashaw. I don;t have any idea if this is true, but they spent the rest of their lives as Bashaws when they came here to Marquette, Mich. Judy
