Lewis, you are VERY wrong on your assumption of data for James BASHAW who married Frances Taylor (daughter of Benjamin Taylor of Fauquier Co., VA).James Bashaw and his wife, Frances, are fully documented, and have been for many years. He IS NOT who you say he is.James came to Fauquier County as a young man from Westmoreland County where he was born.He met and married Frances Taylor there in Fauquier. In early 1770's he sold his land in Fauquier County, and a few days later we find where he had purchased land in Westmoreland County, where he still had a brother living. It is not known forsure exactally when he moved back to Westmoreland, but probably soon after his purchase of land in 1772.This heroic man died at the start of the Rev. War.He left a wife and several minor children. His oldest son, Peter Bashaw, enlisted in the Rev. War as a teenager...we have his account of the events he experienced. This Peter Bashaw married his first cousin, daughter of his uncle Warner Bashaw in Westmoreland in 1785, and they soon moved back to Fauquier County where theyhad lots of maternal kinfolk(along with his widowed mother and siblings) where they show on the 1790 census and early tax-list in Fauquier Co., VA.This group of Bashaws (widow of James Bashaw and her children..mostly all married by this time) along with their connection left Virginia andmoved to Davidson County, TN soon after 1800.They DID NOT stop over in Bedford County, VA (or that area).ALL this group are fully documented and CAN NOT be mixed up with your BashaM in any way.It is a very big stretch to even consider mixing them up.
You really need to retract your misinformation you have posted to stop this radical statement on your part where it will not be repeated over and over.
We all need all the help we can get on tracing out our roots, but everyone needs to be careful that what theystate on the internet is fullydocumented, and be willing to state their source.
A Bashaw descendant,
Mary E. Price
