After 30 years researching BashaM, I can tell you there is No evidence they were ever BashaWs. The Lawrence Co. BashaMs came from Bedford, Franklin, Montgomery Cos VA. The progenitor was William Basham, ( misspelled as Bosson) in New Kent Co Va. He bought land in Goochland, which later became part of Cumberland. From there his sons moved West to Bedford, and so forth. Generally one line moved later to KY, and one to TN. There was some mixing of these lines in both places, I am sure, but not with BashaW.
In Lawrence Co. Tn.: The Basham and Brashears, (any spelling), lines are WELL DELINEATED. The Basham family has enough confusion sorting out all the same given named men, we certainly don't need you to throw out half-baked theories abt Bradshaw, and the mishmash of other names you think may be Brashier/Brashere/BashaM.
When you can show me that you have facts for gathering all these disparate lines together, then I will listen, Until then, I will ignore you, as most other BashaM researchers do. I will eat crow, I promise, just give me facts!
