Rick, I'm answering your query because Robin Bashaw died early this year. The Bashaw family (and indeed the world) suffered a great lose with his passing. A lot of people are still shocked at his death at age 43 years. One of his main hobbies was tracing out his family trees. He purchased several of the Bashaw Books I published...one for himself, and some to give as gifts to family members.

Yes, we have records for Cuthbert B. (Banks?) Bashaw. Since I published the book, I have seen several records for a William Bashaw (who I believe is the one whose widow and sons moved to Sagamon Co., Illinois by 1830...(but who was postmaster at a postoffice in Bath County in the 18teens)It is not believed Cuthbert & William Bashaw were the same person.

After Cuthbert Bashaw's service in the War of 1812, he moved back to Virginia where he finished out his life. He was one of the sons of Peter Bashaw, III and wife Elizabeth Banks (sister of Cuthbert Banks). This Peter Bashaw died in Bath Co., KY in 1835, per his will. Peter was born in about 1760 in Westmoreland or Fauquier Co., VA.
I have this family's lineage back to Giles Bashaw who was one of William Claiborne's Band on Kent Island, Maryland by at least 1631. He was sheriff on Kent at his death in the 1640's. He was probably born in Herefordshire, England; close relative to Phillip Taylor...i.e. 1/2 brother, or bro-in-law.
I do not have a record of Cuthbert Bashaw's where he fought in the Battle of Raisin River. Would appreciate a copy.....I had found record of his service. Do you descend from one of the Bashaws you mentioned.
