Deborah "Debbie" Barwick, NC 1873-1959

I am attempting to identify the parents of Deborah “Debbie” Barwick, born October 25, 1873 in Lenoir County, North Carolina, and died January 14, 1959 in Johnston County, North Carolina. She married Robert E. Lee Kornegay on January 17, 1892. She and Robert had nine children, Ethel (b. 1894), David (b. 1895), Daniel (b. 1895), Bessie (b. 1896-1977), Alma (b.1899), Nannie (b. 1901), George F. (b. 1903), Estelle (b. 1905), and Flossie (b.1909).

According to the 1880 census Debbie Barwick lived with her widowed mother Elizabeth Barwick and her two siblings Florence, born abt 1877, and Plinney born abt 1871 at Mosley Hall community in Lenoir County, NC.

I have been unable to locate any other reference to Plinney Barwick, but according to the Genealogical History of Family of Barwick by Gladys Barwick Weeks, Florence and Debbie were the daughters of Susan Winifred Barwick and ______ Barwick. This same publication states Florence Barwick’s married Gus Pate on July 29, 1915. Florence Barwick Pate died June 18, 1941 and was buried near Summerlin Crossroads in Duplin County, NC.

However, according to the death certificate Florence Barwick Pate's parents were George Barwick and Bertha Barwick of Lenoir County. This conflicts both the 1880 census and the Genealogical History Family of Barwick.

An additional bit of information is the 1900 and 1910 census. Florence Barwick is listed as the niece of Andrew J. Barwick and Eliza Ann Barwick. Eliza Ann Barwick was one of Samuel and Mary Jane (Daniels) Parkers daughters. One of the other daughters, and a sister of Eliza Ann was Elizabeth Parker. This supports the 1880 census listing Debbie and Florence’s mother as Elizabeth?

Any assistance in helping me unscramble this would be greatly appreciated. G. W. Smith, Jr.
