Hi, I have Bartons in my family too. Thomas Barton and h9s son John Barton who married Mary Earles. It was difficult to trace them because they were in just over the Border from Missour in Pud.{if I finish spelling it; it would be wrong]. Anyway, I could find them no where and then I thought, if they were indian and they hid this so they would not loose their land, They might be in North Carolina and South Carolina. Guess what, they were in Warant co. They were there for some time. John Barton and his wife were given permission to leave the reservation because they were half indian and they could read and write. I suppose this was before the forced march. I am still doing research. Good luck, Delores
