Bruce – I am also a descendant of Harrison Bartman. I am the granddaughter of Mary Elsie Schoenly who was Paul’s sister. All I know about Harrison himself was that he was in fact a tax collector – and he served the community for a very long time. He was born approx. 1868. He was a heavy cigar smoker and my mother always told me he reeked of cigar smoke. He married Kate Yerger and they had about 14 children – one baby died right after childbirth, I believe three were born dead, and the rest were named (and this is not in order of birth): Charles (Chas), Robert (Buppy), Paul, Ernest, Earl, Mary Elsie, Sadie, Minnie, Bessie, and Marion. They used to live in a home on East Philadelphia Avenue but it has since been torn down. Kate was employed by the Gilbertsville Cigar Factory. Harrison died in 1953 in Montgomery County. And I think Kate died late 60’s/early 70’s probably in Montgomery County as well. On the familysearch.org website I have found EXTENSIVE research that someone has done on Kate’s family tree that (assuming their research is correct) dates back to 1545. However I have been unsuccessful in finding out much more about Harrison. Hope this helps.
