My Grandfather Bartmann Matthews Jurgens was born 2/26/1894 in Jersey City, New Jersey. His mother Louisa Bartmann (b. May 1864) was one of 5 children(3 proven) of Robert Bartmann (b. May 1825 - d. 8/23/1875 Glovemaker and Fancy Goods)in Saxony, Prussia and Minna Bohrmann (also Prussia). They resided in Jersey City and New York City in mid 1800's. Thier children were Victor Hugo(b.1857 - Saloon Keeper), Arthur B.(b. 1855 -Teacher/Broker), Louisa, Augusta (there was an Augusta Bartmann listed as witness at one of the childrens weddings and an Augusta and Freidrich Statts at another), and Robert (Trimmer). Robert and Augusta are suspects at this time. I have more regarding their marriages but they seemed to disappear in about 1910 including my GGrandmother Louisa who was not with the family but still alive. I have a postcard dated 1911 from her son that must have never been mailed. It is very likely our people are connected.
