I, too, am a Bartley descendent. James Bartley born 1806 died 1891 married Sarah Jane Speak 1829 in Lee Co, VA. They had 5 sons and 5 daughters all born near Rosehill, Lee Co, Va. A son John C Bartley born 28 Jun 1835 died 1 Sep 1926 in Hancock, TN. His wife Jane Randolph Fletcher born 28 Jun 1832 died 22 Jan 1922 and both are buried Fletcher Ford, Lee Co, VA. They had 11 children, one of them being Samuel Lafayette Bartley.
I have used the Family Tree Maker Volumn #5 Tree #3382 which lists his descendents thru his first wife, Nancy King.
John C Bartley, father of Samuel Lafayette Bartley, was a brother of Francis Marion Bartley who was my maternal great-grandfather.
I am now researching the parents of John Bartley born 1778-1780 in Greene Co, TN. He married Nancy Hays in 1801. They had 9 children. They were the parents of James previously mentioned. John Bartley would be our great-great-great grandfather.
