Mike,

I had to chuckle at your posts. They are a little rude, but amusing just the same. I have been posting to message boards at Genealogy.com for over a year and most of my post have never been responded to. Occasionally, I get lucky and some kind soul helps me out.
As for BARTLEY, all I can help with is an article that I read in "Tennessee's First Settlers & Soldiers" by Edward C. McAmis, at page 30:

It states as follows:

Bartley, May be a Scotch surname & a variation of Bartlet or Barlett or Barty - etc. Names which originated from the Scotch surname Bartholomew?

Bartley, Some early Bartley's buried @ Pisgah Methodist Cemetery & probably the issue of Robt. Bartley b. 1776, Martha Bartley 1802-1877, Mahala Bartley 1811-1898, Rachal Bartley 1801-1861 w/o John Salts, Ruth Bartley 1826-1904 w/o John Colyer or Collier, Robert Bartley Jr. 1817-1857 w Phebe Ann Birdwell, etc.

Bartley, John, Was a Pvt. in Captain James Penny's Company of Mounted Infantry Tennessee Militia for the War of 1812.

Bartley, Robert, b. 1776 Guilford County, N.C. wife Elizabeth Doan b/c 1780? & m/c 1800? N.C. Robt. s/o John Bartley & Rachel Hotten or Holten. Robt. d. 1864 & is buried @ Pisgah Methodist Cemetery, Gr. Tn.

Bartley, Robert, 1776 Guilford Co., N.C. to 1864 Gr. Tn. w Elizabeth Doan 1777-1871 d/o John Doan. Robert b. 1776 left a Will dated 1862 Gr. Tn. where he mentions; w Elizabeth; son John; son Lorenza D.; son Thomas; son Robert Bartley Jr. (dec.) & Robt. Jr.'s issue, Marion I., John, Mary Ann, Wm. H., Eliz. R., Jacob L., Martha Jane, & Rebecca H. Bartley (8 in number); other issue of Robert Sr., Rachel Salts or Sults (dec.); Martha Bartley; Mary Self; Eliz. Farnsworth; Mahaly Bartley; & ruth Collier. Robert & Eliz. are buried @ Pisga [sic] Methodist Cemetery in @ Bartley plot & appear to be the head of the family of the many Bartley's buried here.

Good luck,
Lillie Marshall
