James M. "Jim" Bartlett
KEITHVILLE, LA- Mr. James M. Bartlett, 88, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Northwestern Louisiana War Veterans Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Keithville First Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Mike Stowell.
Mr. Bartlett was born in Alto Loma, Texas, on October 1, 1920, and grew up in Mansfield, Louisiana. He was of Baptist faith and entered the Naval Service, U.S. Coast Guard in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. Much of his sea duty was on submarine patrol in the North Atlantic aboard the U.S.S. Shreveport.
Mr. Bartlett was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Bartlett; and two sisters, Mrs. Madeliene Burgess and Mrs. Jane Johnson.
Mr. Bartlett was a past member of the Odd Fellow Lodge. During his working years, he was an industrial instrument technician in the United States as well of Iraq and Japan.
He leaves a wife, Katie, and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws (and his little dog, Dutchi).
He had a true love for gardening, always had a large vegetable garden and was in competition with his neighbor and close friend, Don Anderson, to have the first ripe tomato. Rose-Neath Funeral Home
