Robin;

Either your father or a brother would be a great participant. Use the link below to join the project and purchase your DNA test.

http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=C45062

The TEST: FTDNA sends a kit with plastic sticks, vials, a preaddressed mailer and instructions. Just rub the inside of your cheek with the stick, put the end of the stick in a vial, repeat, and mail it in – no blood, no pain – it’s like brushing your teeth.

I’ve posted a recent report on our project on BARTLETT GenForum
http://genforum.genealogy.com/bartlett/messages/4739.html

I can't post the costs on these message boards, but if you go to the link, they will be there - just visiting the link does not commit you. You can pay by CC or have them bill you. You can have the kit mailed to whomever you want.

FTDNA is having a sale until 30 June on the YDNA-37 + mtDNA kit - the price at the link is over 50 percent off; and it is really a bargain. It gives the 37 marker test, one of the best, plus an mtDNA which gives results for the participant's mother and all-female-line ancestors.

Think about whether your father or brother should participate - the Y-DNA (BARTLETT line) would be the same for each; the mtDNA test would be for the participant's mother - if your brother takes the test, it gives the DNA results for your mother and her female line (and you); if your father takes the test, it gives the DNA results for his mother (your grandmother's female line.

Good luck and email me if you have any questions.
