THOMAS MILTON AKERS, son of SPENCER and ELIZABETH AKERS, was born near Leon, Iowa, May 24, l856, and passed from this life March 9, l922; aged 65 years, 9 months and l5 days. He was united in marriage to MISS CLARA RYAN, December l5, l878.
To this union were born l3 children, of whom 8 are living; WILEY, WILLIE, DWIGHT, DOSSE and MRS. LYDA MUSE, of Decatur, Iowa; MRS. EMMA GARDNER, of Ringsted, Iowa; and MRS. JESSIE BARTLETT and MISS FLOSSIE, of Ottumwa, Iowa.
All were present at the burial.
TOM, as he was familiarly known, was a kind and indulgent husband and father, and was known by all as more than an ordinary strict moralist, believing that, "as a man soweth so shall he also reap." He had been a great sufferer for many months, but was as patient as is possible of humanity. The one great aim of his life, outside his house, was helping his friends and neighbors in times of sickness and distress, and with always the same kindly word to all, which made of him a valued citizen.
Three brothers, M.W., of Shenandoah, Iowa; GRANT, of Marshalltown, Iowa; and BEN, of Kansas City, Mo., were present at the funeral. One brother and only sister being absent.
