William M. Bartlett
William M. Bartlett and Isaac E. Bartlett moved to Campbell County, Ga. in the late 1830’s.They appear to be the grandsons of Hastin Bartlett’s mentioned in Hastin Bartlett’s application for pension for service in the Revolutionary War (but this writer CANNOT PROVE THIS).Calculate the date Hastin mentions for the oldest of his grandchildren’s age, and you get close to 1814.William M. Bartlett was born in 1814 according to the 1850 census. He married Denicey Camp in 1839 in Campbell County Ga..[She may have been a widow at that time because older children immediately appear with them in the 1840 census in Campbell County, page 33.]George T. Camp, age 19 lived with William M. and Denicey Bartlettin the 1850 census. The other boy in the 1840 census may have been W.J. Camp, assumed, but NOT PROVEN, by a guardian record found in Campbell County.]Denicey has disappeared by the 1860 census, and a lady named Mary who is 22 lives with William M. Bartlett in that census.
William M Bartlett was sheriff for a while (at least in 1848) in Campbell County. He owned 5 slaves in the 1840 census.
William M. Bartlett, born 1815 showed up in the Fayette County, Ga. 1870 census.Fayette county was formed in 1821 from Indian Lands and Henry County, and is close to the same general area as Campbell County Ga.Does anyone descend from this man?Can you help me sort this mess out?Other researchers have thought a different man with an earlier birthdate is the grandson of Hastin Bartlett.
Isaac E. Bartlett moved to Columbia County Ga. by 1850, where his birth year is listed as 1820.Need more information on this man also.Thanks.
