His father was William Bartles (1778-d.by Oct.1818)m. Margaret Williamson (1779-1848). They lived in Steuben Co.,NY then Greene Co.,OH where both died. William was born in Hunterdon Co., NJ to Frederick Henry Bartles (b.ca.1731 d.1819) and Anna Catharine Apt. William's father was an immigrant and lived in Hunterdon Co.,NJ and Steuben Co.,NY.
