Dear Henry,

As I have read through a 2000 book about General Joseph and current research that is taking place, there seems to be a question about His parents, especially his mother Catherine/Elizabeth Sine Bartholomew Smith. They have been unable to find a record of her second marriage to the "man Named Smith", or find the Grave of The Generals father Daniel Bartholomew. In 1816, The General has been well documented as living on his farm in Charleston Clark, Indiana. When I recieved the 1880 Census for my GG Grandparents, his daughter Angela it is stated by her daughter Elizabeth, was born in NY. The question I have had, is did the General possibly have a second dwelling in the state of NY near the English Bartholomew's,during this time? If so, what might be the connection, as he was said to be of the Holland Bartholomews. A cousin wrote to say that the General was in Washington DC a few days before Angela was born, so it may be possible that they were visiting NY at that time, when Angela was born, or it could have been incorrect on the Census Record. However, if more information about the Generals life could be located in NY, that would be fabulous! And possibly a connection to the English line as well. This may answer many questions that still remain.
