Bartholomews in Wash. Co., NY

I am trying to discover the parents of Joseph Bartholomew (1829-1906) of Washington Co., NY. He was born in Whitehall and lived most of his life in nearby Dresden (Clemons), NY. He married Saraph Snody in 1856 and served with the 123rd NY Vol. Inf. in the Civil War. He may have been the brother of Charles Bartholomew (1827-1900) who served with Joseph in the War and married Saraph Snody's sister Angeline. (There was another Snody sister, Marion, who also married a Bartholomew--James, could they all be brothers?). My guess is that Charles' father is Lemuel Bartholomew (1791-1867), only because he is buried in the same small farm cemetery as two of Charles and Angeline's young children (the "Charles Bartholomew cemetery" in Dresden). Also, in the 1850 census, Charles is listed in the household of Thomas Bartholomew--could this be another brother? He's too young to be his father.

Can anybody sort all this out?
