He was part of Co. B Eighth regiment Ohio Volunteers Santingo de Cuba in the Spanish American War.
He and his family moved from Ghent, Ohio to Citronelle, Alabama in 1917.

George and Albert joined the Army in their teens. Their father had to sign for them. They both served in the 13th Cavalry.
George later re-inlisted in the 62nd Coast Artillary in WWI.
