We may be researching the same Bartholomew family of Marden, Kent, England. My ancestor was a William Bartholomew who married Mary (?Hickmott?). Their son, James Bartholomew, came to America as a teenager, settling in Dearborn Co. Indiana, where he married Mary Katherine Alden. He died in 1849 in Tippecanoe Co, Indiana, where he had been a broom maker in the town of Stockport.
The baptismal record for the James Bartholomew above was found in Staplehurst Independent Church. I have visited that area, and Staplehurst and Marden are very close to each other.
As for dates, I have birth date of James Bartholomew as 29 Nov. 1820. William, his father, I have only an estimated birth date of 1784. I have an estimated birth date of his father, Thomas Bartholomew, as 1759, and of Mary, his wife, as about 1764.
I do know there was another Bartholomew family in the Marden area and many of the given names of their children were same as this family.
