I am seeking to find the link between my William Winnen BARTHOLOMEW b 1823/unknown co OH (m Emily Jane BROWN in 1847/Johnson co IN)who was in unknown co IN on 1850 census, Benton Co IA/1860, and Polk Co IA/1870 census. They have the following children listed: George M b 1854/IN, Fanny V b 1856/IA, Leona A b 1858/IA, Frank Carl b 1861/IA, Flora A b 1863/IA and Charles b 1864/IA.
Curiously, there are other BARTHOLOMEWS in these counties in IA who live near my WW BARTHOLOMEW but are all born in NY. For example: Benton Co IA/1860: (1) BARTHOLOMEW, Rebecca age 18/NY lives with FAIRBANKS, Freman age 27/NY and his wife Laury M (probably maiden name BARTHOLOMEW) age 27/NY and their son Fred F age 1/IA; (2) BARTHOLOMEW, AA age 56/CT and wife Adeliza age 43/NY; (3) BARTHOLOMEW, Alfred age 25/NY, wife Lucy age 35/NY, children Harriet age 11/MI, Adel age 6/MI, and Flora R age 6 months/IA.
My WW BARTHOLOMEW then moved to Polk Co IA in 1870 census and found there was: (1) BARTHOLOMEW, Mariah age 78/NY living with her daughter's (??) family VAN HORN, Charles age 48/IN, Laura M age 40/NY, Florence age 14/IA (probably Van HORN'S daughter from prev marriage), and Fred FAIRBANKS age 10/IA (Laura BARTHOLOMEW FAIRBANKS VAN HORN'S son from prev marriage); (2) BARTHOLOMEW, Cora age 9/IA living with MERRITT, William age 48/NY, wife Marcia M age 42/NY, Edward age 13/IA, William H age 11/IA and Douglas age 9/IA.
Since it is clear that at least Laura BARTHOLOMEW FAIRBANKS VAN HORN moved with the William Winnen BARTHOLOMEW family from Benton to Polk Co IA, she must be related to him. Thus, could the elderly female, Mariah BARTHOLOMEW b 1792/NY be the mother of Laura and maybe WW BARTHOLOMEW? But why was WW the only one born in OH, the rest born in NY?
