I know NOTHING of the Bartholomew family except that Capt. Benjamin was member of the Soc. of the Cincinnati after the Rev. War...therefore I suspect his family was of "some" means. Ben Bartholomew is in the 1790 census for Chester Co, PA from East Whiteland Twp. Appears to be living near a Jn Bartholomew Esq. Is there a connection? ...Capt. Ben's daughter , Ellen Bartholomew married(in 1828, Chester Co.,Pa.) Thomas J. Maxwell[ca. 1801 Pa.-1855 per census and records at Peoria Co.,Ill. Gen. Soc.Obit Thomas J. Maxwell.. dated 7Apr 1855 in Peoria(Illinois)Daily Transcript "died 6April 1855 age 54" ..therefore born ca. 1801..] all listed as "of Chester Co.",Pa....... Thomas and Ellen's Children[per obit and will] were: David, Sarah Jane Criger, Eliza Maxwell, ***HENRY MAXWELL***,Mary Ellen Maxwell...... ....I believe this Thomas is a granson or nephew of my Thomas Maxwell(1738-1785)... FYI...Henry Maxwell s/o of Thomas(1738-1785) was a FREEMAN in 1796 and 1799 in East Whiteland also!!!! This is potentially a big help in connecting these two families.
