The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Saturday, August 22, l874 BURGLARY. -- On Wednesday night another bold and daring robbery was committed. Someone entered the sleeping apartment of Col. O.A. BARTHOLOMEW of this city, and extracted therefrom about seventy-five dollars in money and a fine hunting case silver watch. The rogue even carried off his pants containing the money. The pocket book from which the money was taken was found outside of the house beneath the window. There was a light burning in the room all night which proves that the villain was of the most desperate character. In view of such burglarious acts it would be well for every citizen in the country to be on the alert and be fully prepared to retrieve such outlaws with a wholesome dose of 'cold lead.' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert November 13, 2003 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas Notify Administrator about this message?
