I am looking for the descendants of William Allen Bartels born in Erie Co Pa in 1903 died Erie PA 1971. He was married to Lois Ballard in about 1926. His father was also a William A Bartels born c. 1879 married to a Jessie Smith.
In a book published in 1929 by the DAR in Erie Co., PA he or his father owned the Bible of Daniel Ball and allowed them to publish the family record of this Bible in their book. I am a Ball trying to track down this family Bible. It appears to have ended up in the Bartels family as follows:
Daniel Ball b. 1757 MD, d. 1831 Erie Co., PA m. Catherine Boyer one of their many children was Catherine Ball b. 1794 d. 1873 who married Samuel Gulliford b. 1783 d. 1848. One of their children was Allen William Gulliford b. 1823 d. 1905 who m. Sally Young; one of their children Ida M. Gulliford b. 1859 d. 1943 m. in 1875 to William J Bartels b. 1840 d. 1956. One of their children is William A Bartels b. 1879 as noted above.
It appears that the Daniel Ball family Bible passed through the female line of his family into the Bartels family. If anyone in the Willam Allen Bartels family knows what happened to this Bible I would be grateful for the information. I would love to find it and gets copies if it is still around.
