I have the following family Bartels:
Joseph Bartels (b. 1839 Germany, d. NY)
Wilhelmenia Hoperoth Bartels (b. 1851 Germany d. 1920 NY)
Children:
Bertha Bartels Maibaum (b. 1873 Germany) (married: Charles)
William Bartels (b. 1874 Germany) (married Cora H.)
Louise(a) Bartels (b. 1875 Germany)
Auguste(a) Bartels (b. 1882 Germany)
Martha W. Bartels (b. 1885 NY)
Anna Bartels Rodie (b. 1887 NY) (married: William)
Minnie Bartels (b. 1889 NY)
Harry Bartels (b. 1892 NY, d. 1978)(married Gertrude)
Bertha had at least one son Elmer Maibaum.
William and Cora had at least 7 children, the last being born in 1919 when Cora died during childbirth and the baby Eunice was given to Anna Rodie to raise.

Harry and Gertrude had at least one son, James (b. 1920 d. 1974)
These Bartels were from Rochester, NY. I am not sure where they lived in Germany but they left Germany on October 1, 1884 arriving in New York on October 15, 1884 on the ship: Bohemia.
