The reason I am asking is that I have a Margaretha Barthelemew of Hillsdale born about 1774 or thereabout who claims "dutch" ancestry and I suspect that is German as in "hard-headed dutchman" - meaning German. Anyway I can't find her relatives and am casting about for others who might be related with kindred names as Bartel, etc. You have been helpful. I will keep looking. She says she was born in Columbia Co too.
