Hi Carolyn!
That must have been 'Del' Bartee in San Antonio. I have met him - a very, very nice gentleman. He only started genealogy in
the past couple of years and has been very busy with it.

But now for your James... Here is some of what I have in my notes:
children: Elizabeth B. (married a WARRICK or CAMPBELL?)
another possible dau., name unknown (married a CAMPBELL?)
John Robert, b. 2 May 1845, TN (I think he belongs to this family)
George, b. Apr 1849, VA (married Mary)
Sarah, b. ca. 1854, VA (possibly never married)
William M., b. ca. 1858, VA

John Robert (from above) gives his father's place of birth as TN on 1880 census.

Unfortunately, at this point I don't know who James parents might be. Do you have any "candidates" you're considering. My
information has come from census records and from Bessie BARTEE BORCHER (dau. of John R. and Margaret BARTEE). I
have a copy of something she wrote about her family (primarily the John Robert family) around 1966. She does mention her
grandparents in this, but calls them John & Margaret. On her father's death certificate in 1937 though she names them as James
BARTEE and Sarah CLARK (hmm, Sarah or Elizabeth??? Maybe it was Sarah Elizabeth CLARK --- any ideas about this?).

If you can add to any of this for me, please do.

Linda M.
