Any Czech\German Barstows? settled northern WI and MI and later Chcgo and PHX

My great great great Grandfather Adolph Bastar changed his name to Adolph Barstow because people would pronounce his Czech name "Bastard". The rest of the family, or most I think, who settled northern Michigan and Wisconsin and later the Chicago area, followed with the name change.

A good deal of the Barstows later came to Phoenix which is where I am.

I am curious as to if there are any confused Barstows wondering why they cant trace themselves back to this William guy in England. I am also curious as to if this was a freak occurance or if other Bastar\Barstar families did this as well.

Heinrich Bastar had 16 children and his grandfather Jan Bastar jr had 10 children so there are bound to be plenty of Bastars in the US that may be related to a lot of Barstows.
