I am a descendant of Jacob Barry, Sr., born in Maryland in 1754. I am five generations removed.According to our family history Jacob was the son of Basil Barry, of Irish descent.Basil and his wife raised seven children, one of whom was also named Basil.Jacob also had a son named Jacob.Jacob Sr. was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, and as a young man fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill.He enlisted in the Continental Army July 13, 1776, just nine days after the Declaration. He was in the army of 2200 or so when they, led by General Washington, crossed the Delaware River.Jacob was also at Yorktown. He died in March of 1831.Biographical records of one of his daughters, Harriett Barry Disney, should be found in The History of Knox County, Ohio, published in 1881.We have pages of Barry history but would like to find more.
