You fail to get the point.They were two different men.There is no record where John of Plymouth says he was ever in Salem.22 year gaps in colonial records do not happen.All English records are irrelevant since they may (or may not) solely pertain to the Salem man not the Plymouth man.
Your reasoning that his being a Quaker [completely without proof] is without merit since (a) if he were the last place he would go is Plymouth; Quakers went to Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hamsphire; and (b) his children are all married in puritan churches to puritan spouses.
This genealogical dog won't hunt.
