In the Counties of Waterford and Wexford the name srems from Ftizgerald family who served as barons of Burnchurch in Kilkenny. Some of the name were originally od scottish heritage before setting in Ireland. The main locations in the 19th centry would be in Antrim, Donegal, Wexford, and Waterford. It is a version of Fitzgerald an anglo-Norman name. Fizgerald came over with Strongbow ( the earl of Pembroke) and were given lands in Kildare, the name has changed depending on what branch you were . rEFERANCE THIS book:"The book of Irish Families great and small" by Michael C.
