Louis Anibal Barrios 1916 - 2008 Louis, 92, was born on September 11, 1916, in Caniaco, Puerto Rico, the first of the six children of Magdalena "Maena" (Casanas) and Ramiro Barrios. He attended the following trade schools: business in Puerto Rico, mechanics in NY, and aircraft in NY & CA; and through the "school-of-hard-knocks" he became a chef by profession. Louis passed away in Bakersfield, CA on December 25, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Velma Marie Hitt, a native of Slater, Wyoming. They married in 1942, and were blessed with 5 daughters: Mona Sanders of Chatsworth, Rita Jacobson of Fountain Valley, Nanette Chuck of Rohnert Park, Lois Gayle of Bakersfield, Camille Brubaker of Chino Hills, and one son, Mark Anthony, who died as an infant. Louis is fondly remembered by 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He is survived by a brother, Ramiro "Raymey" of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrna "Minnie," and Anjelica, and two brothers, Luis and Heriberto all of PR. He had 14 nieces and 5 nephews.
