My mother-in-law's great grandfather was James Peyton Barrington. He was born in Georgia according to his daughter's census record. His daughter was Martha Irene Barrington who married Joseph Francis Pate and lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
My mother-in-law says that Martha had an older sister "Lou" and a younger sister "Callie". She remembers that James' wife's name was "Ginny". The records that I find show that James Peyton Barrington married Emily Ann Lunsford. Perhaps Ginny was a second wife?
My mother-in-law also believes that James Peyton Barrington was a Confederate soldier.
We believe that the family ended up in Texas.
My husband was told that a school in Austin was named for Molly Barrington who was a cousin to Lou, Mattie and Callie.
