The only John Lockyer I found in the 1860 census that might fit the bill, was a John S. Lockyer,(26) born ca. 1833 in Eng., laborer, wife Elizabeth,(24) born ca. 1835 in Ireland, son William R. (1) born ca. 1858 in CT. The family is found in New Haven, Ward 6, CT Elizabeth could be a Jane Elizabeth or Elizabeth Jane, but it's the only family I found with a son named William. You didn't say where or give any other clues. Hope this helps. JJB
