MATHIAS BARRINGER, 1823 Montgomery Co. NC Deed

The 1823 Montgomery Co. NC Deed of Rogers land ( Long Creek, Riles Creek and Curl Tail Creek regions in Montgomery Co.NC ) to Mathias Barringer is below, in hopes it might help others too. Later we know that some of this Rogers land may have been in or near to the BARRINGERS land where he built a GOLD MINE, after finding a gold vein running along LONG CREEK, as he had already found all the gold in the creek. This became a Lode Bearing Gold Mine for the BARRINGERS, I believe.

My GGG Granfather WILLIAM ( L. ) ROGERS b. 1770 Montgomery Co. NC sold his 700 acres to MATHIAS BARRINGER on Feb. 18, 1823 and then moved his large ROGERS family to CARROLL CO. TN. Our Rogers have BARNHARTS, BUSHARTS, and other GERMAN families in their line in NC and TN. Our William L. Rogers had wife NANCY born abt. 1775 NC and I wonder sometimes if she had connections to Mathias Barringer of his kinships ? E. McLESTER ( believed to be EDMUND McLESTER son of DANIEL and MARY McLESTER of Montgomery Co. NC, along with BASIL ROGERS son of William Rogers were the witnesses to this deed ).

This deed was in the STANLY CO. NC ROGERS files and I believe that the BARRINGER family had kept this deed in their house until they then submitted it to the NC Land records. We know that Montgomery Co. NC became Stanly Co. NC in 1841, and I believe the original deed was in STANLY CO. NC. We got this from the library files in Stanly Co. NC at Albermarle, through a generous researcher sending us a copy after our inquiries on this deed.
