Barrier is believed to be from Auvergne (Center of France).

My ancestors come from a small town of Auvergne called Pontaumur, near Clermont-Ferrant. They moved to Paris in the mid 19th Century.

Can anybody in US/Canada find roots in Auvergne too ?
