In the 1970's a Barrier researcher by the name of Wells wrote a paper stating that Abraham Barrier was the son of Micheal Bearyer and Catherine and that they were
from Wurttemberg, Germany.
I have recently found a copy of Abraham's Will held by the Davidson Co Gen Soc in NC. It was found in the Henry Reeves collection, 1983 It reads:
"Jacob Berger born Mar 2, 1708 in Sennwald, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland married
Jan 6, 1727 in Regensberg, Switzerland. Barbara Kunz , wife of Jacob born Apr
11, 1707 in Regensberg, Switzerland. Father of Barbara was Abraham Kunz
'from whom I take my name'. Abraham Barrier son of Jacob, 'I was born Berger
but took the old name' born Mar 10, 1739 in Canton Sankt Gallen, Switzerland
married Sept 3, 1759 to Eliz Reynolds. Children:
Katherine b 10-18-1761
Barbara b 1767
Richard b 2-4-1768
Fredrick b 10-21-177?
Martin Luther b 1775
Hannah b 1780
Note written in a later hand: Catherine Barrier married Jakob Mesy d 1844. Richard
Barrier married Katherine Mesy
