A posting by Quinn Dahlstrom a couple of years ago indicated that Abraham Barrier, of Rowan co, NC, and Spartanburg co, SC, died in Jackson co, Alabama. Similar information is repeated on a website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~walanray/pafg132.htm, where Abraham is said to have died in Jackson co between 1830 and 1840. His daughter-in-law Sarah Neal Barrier, widow of Martin, is said to have died in Sand Mountain, Jackson co, between 1840 and 1850. This has particular interest for me in that Abraham is my 5-great-grandfather, and I happen to be a resident of Alabama. I moved here two years ago believing I had no genealogical ties whatever to the State. What a surprise to find that a direct ancestor may have lived here! Does anyone have any information on Abraham's residence in Jackson co, or any more specific information as to his death? If the statements are true, they could be a great motivator for a genealogical side trip next time I'm close to that area.
